The police authorities in NRW use social networks to provide information and get in touch with citizens.

"As a modern and open authority, we also want to use Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to get in touch with people in the district of Soest who we can no longer reach via conventional media," says the head of the authority, District Administrator Eva Irrgang. "We have already had many positive experiences with this type of public relations work."

Wolfgang Lückenkemper from the social media team: "Our social media accounts give us the opportunity to communicate directly with citizens. Police work is exciting and citizens are interested in many things from everyday police life. We provide insights that would otherwise be difficult to see from the outside. We answer questions and try to make the police perspective on many things visible. Ultimately, of course, we also want to get our messages across. Our contributions to traffic accident prevention and crime prevention bring the experts' tips directly to the public. We think that's very appropriate in this day and age."
